The SPEED Portal (Smart Ports Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development) is a European project to support the development of new technology to support ports who are interested in exploring the opportunities that the Internet of Things and Data Science present.
In 2021, one week apart and independently of each other, The Smart Ports Alliance and the SPEED project produced a Manifesto document. Both organisations developed near identical definitions of a Smart Port. The SPEED Project also defined a vision for the future state of the port, while The Smart Ports Alliance presented a set of fundamental values and principles that any port can adopt to achieve that future state.
We share the same vision for the future, and have similar ideas on the strategy and tactics for achieving that future. Now we are bringing our resources together to communicate our message with one collective voice.
Our mission is to support the journey of ports and terminals, individually and collectively, to apply technology effectively to improve operational efficiency, enhance financial performance and address serious global challenges.
